Alas, I have signed up to show you every single piece of envelope art that I have ever captured on camera. This shall be a lot, but hopefully this helps you if you need inspiration for the envelopes of the piles of letters you are procrastinating to respond to (You must be saying, “Audrey Kate, it sounds as if you know about this letter-writing-procrastination thing?” And to that, I say nothing. ).
Enough chatter, onward!
#1: Florals
Floral patterns are probably my most often drawn envelope decoration. I just love how happy it makes an envelope and you have complete creative liberties with how you want your flowers to look.
#2: Christmas
I love making my envelope art match the Christmastime feelings and colors (probably some of my favorite envelope art ever). Here is an arrangement of these styles:
This one was actually going to a friend named Joy, and so I was so happy my wrapping paper decorations had the word “Joy”!
#3: Autumn
Most of you who have been around awhile know that the fall months are absolutely my favorite. I love putting that season into art, so here we have various autumn-themed decorations.
#4: Valentines Day
Hey, if there’s a season specifically for pink (which actually isn’t my favoritest color but..) and hearts, might as well decorate envelopes that way!
#5: Lettering Focused
My usual go-to for envelopes is just making the lettering of the name and address the focus. It always varies, but sometimes simple is just as beautiful as an all-out design.
#6: Design Focused
You know, sometimes you just have some free time and crack out the paints or the markers and want to go crazy on a envelope. Here are some of those times for me:
And y’all, that is it. Now, this isn’t every design I have ever done, but I would say I have photographed at least 70% of them over the past year-and-a-half. I hope you enjoyed and will return again when you need inspiration for the beautiful envelope you’re about to mail. Thank you for reading and looking!
Which design was your favorite? Which category? Any envelope art related posts you would like to see soon? How has the beginningof June been for you? Icecream or brownies?
I was recently making a list of favorite things for this season (I usually do this every season) and I thought I would turn it into a post I could share!
I love switching things around for each season–weather that’s switching my room, what I wear or what type of books I read or letter art that I do– I love changing things up a bit. For the Springtime this year I’ve been really enjoying florals and green (and on another note, my friend Alex pointed out in a letter that ‘green’ should really be spelled ‘grean.’ Just sayin’, it DOES make sense) and brown and postcards, to name a few.
The first things I wanted to mention were home and location magazines. My Mom recently bought a big stack of magazines from last year and I love them! The Verandamagazine has to be my favorite, but The English Home comes as a close second. The beautiful castles and quaint countryside homes and flower fields and beautifully furnished homes makes me giddy.
I have also really been enjoying decorating with vintage/vintage patterned teacups. Also, I fantasize about having enough cups to fill a small cupboard one day when I’m married with a home. Perhaps a start of a hope chest? (:
I am decidedly a plantaholic. I am sitting in my room at the moment and I look up and gaze upon 11 plants. Is that too many? Probably. But they’re my favorite things in my room, haha!
THESE postcards have been in my regular rotation lately. I love the size and the patterns. Where you write the actual letter, there are no lines or anything, so you have the freedom to write wherever you want and do a fun address if you wish. I just love them.
This next one is a bit random, but the Pilot G-2 pen is the best! I use it all of the time–school, letters, journals–and it hasn’t stopped! Plus, very affordable, which is a plus, indeed.
So these earrings are my absolute favorite. Thank you. Next…
Janette Oke books are in the reading currently. She is a great writer and she writes very interesting, sweet stories. I am currently reading the Prairie Legacy series, but “A Measure of the Heart” has to be my favorite out of all of her books. I want to read “When Calls the Heart,” too, because we loved that show!
My Mom recently passed along this excellent bible commentary that my Grandfather passed to her many years back. It has been well loved, but all of the good words are still there! It goes chapter-by-chapter explaining what happens in each one and references other chapters as well. It’s very short, and I have been enjoying it while doing the McCheyne reading plan (to read the bible in a year–almost half way done!).
And lastly, a quick shoutout to these delightful twisty hair ties that are amazing! I have fairly thick, longer hair that is wavy/curly and the regular hair ties slip out, usually within a few minutes, but these will keep my hair up all day. I must recommend.
I hope y’all enjoyed viewing my favorites for this season! Please be sure to let me know if you enjoy this kind of post–I do! I would LOVE to hear your favorites for spring as well, and let me know if you would like to see this same kind of post but with a different category. I would love to hear your ideas! ❤
What are your favorites for Spring? Do you enjoy magazines? What are your Summer plans? Do you like plants?
*Nervous laughter* It’s only a few hours until March. Augh. What.?! I know I say this every month but, it never fails to surprise me how fast the months come ’round.
I have created a new setup for this upcoming month, so I though I would share!
It is a very blue toned theme. I wanted to do a somewhat monochrome scheme because next month’s theme is very colorful, so I went with blues. (:
On the left, I have “Bloom where you are planted” to fill in that empty page. On the right, I have a “dutch door” With flowers and the month’s title. I made it a bit curvy to add some dimension and texture and to follow the shape of the flowers.
P.s… Didn’t mean to show my fingers in all of these!
I started my month’s calendar on the other side of the dutch door to the other page. On the bottom, a short quote and the carryover of the design.
On the left, I have ‘To- do’ ‘Reminders’ ‘Goals’ and ‘Ideas’ In rectangles, surrounded by the floral design. Very simple, but easy to layout and write in.
On the right, I have a very simple habits page–only the grid and the words. I thought it might be best to not over do the florals. What do you think?
On these two pages, I have two weeks worth of weekly logs, each with a ‘to-do’ list at the bottom.
On the left we have the letter/mail tracker for this month and sparse design elements. On the right I have a page of grids for money tracking.
On this left page we have one more weekly log, and for this one I played with a different layout–more horizontal. I used the different blues to define it a bit. It includes a ‘to-do’ at the bottom as well.
On the right, a quote and design that says: “You want nothing but patience–or give it a more fascinating name; call it hope” by Jane Austen.
The last pages wrap up the weekly logs for this month. It is more horizontal as well, using the same colors as before. On the right side at the bottom there is a small area for the month’s recap, too. I like to refer to these at the end of the year!
Well, I hope y’all enjoyed! I’m sorry I have been such a very bad blogger lately, I want to start posting more soon! Please share any and all ideas you may have, I’d love to hear. Thank you for reading!
Do you like blue? What is your favorite thing about March? Any Plans? What is your favorite history book? Chocolate orpeanut butter?
I have had a few questions about different things regarding bullet journaling recently, so I figured that I would make a post where I talk about a few of my favorite things when bullet journaling (including my favorite journals) and the different styles of fonts and pens. And, a page of titles and designs I love.
I have tried a few bullet journals in my time including one from Hobby Lobby that was abandoned on a end cap, a dupe for the Archer and Olive journals that I can’t pronounce (here. This is what I used last year. Very pretty!) , and these, which are my favorite that I have used. These journals are by Minimalism Art. They have a significant range in sizes and pages, and they have quite a lot of colors. For this year, I chose two of the 190 page journals. One white, one black. In 2019 I used the tan one which has a bit over 250 pages, which is just enough for a year for me. But I liked black and white, so I got the two smaller page journals to get me through 2021.
LAYOUT
I have tested out quite a few different types of pages as far as the grid goes, and a few years back landed on dotted grid pages as my favorite. I like that you can do art on top of them and you don’t see big lines, and they are faint, but you can still see them to help yourself make straight lines every time. But, most dots in each journal (any journals) are different. So, whenever I get a new dotted bullet journal I make a little not in the front about how many dots wide and tall the journal contains. This helps me if I need to make a line straight through the middle and I won’t have to cont up all the dots to find the mid part.
I make little grids all of the time, and I usually just freehand them by counting out 8 dots (or 7 spaces) and then draw it two dots high. Depending on the size o your journal, you might want to go 2 or 3, maybe even 4 dots tall if your dots are tiny and close together.
I am going to keep it pretty simple as far as the design goes for this post, but you are welcome to turn it into whatever you like! I like to look at stickers or pretty papers or pictures of different things on pinterest to decide my theme, but sometimes I just make it up without looking at anything for inspiration, too. For this design, I had these cute floral themed stickers to which I drew inspiration.
If you’re going for a simple theme, just centering your title (the name of the month) in the page with minimal designs around (I just did three flowers diagonally on each side of the title) is really pretty. I love going for more simple themes like this, but I also love going more into detail with harder themes. Speaking of, any theme ideas for this year you’d like me to try?
Choosing a color scheme can be one of the hardest parts for me, but go with what you love! For this theme I chose warmer, rosy tones and a deeper warm green in the Tombow dual brush pens (the exact shades are 772, 912, 026 and 249, which are all dear favorites that I’ve used multiple times in bullet journal setups.). You don’t have to over do it as far as color goes. Just a black pen and/or black brush pen and one or two colors would be plenty!
This kind of simple design is really easy and pretty, and you could carry these little flowers (or hearts or leaves or pumpkins ar books, whatever you choose!) through the rest of your pages and it would be so pretty!
I always like to make a little insert in my journal of my most used fonts to refer to through the year to help keep everything cohesive. Number 1,2,4,6 and 8 are the ones y’all see the most, but somewhere I would like to use the bubble letters (#7). A bit farther down I have a list of title fonts you could use to refer to, hope they help! (:
Below are some fun title and design ideas I love. Let me know if you use any!
I do weekly logs in every spread, and I seem to always be trying out a new layout. Below are the ones I have used many times before. You can check out this, this, this, and this to see a few of these designs in action.
These are my favorite and most-used pens. Overall, my most used are the Tombow Fudenosuke brush pens. If you don’t have them, they’re worth the $7!
Below I have the Pigma Micron in 02 (my favorite fineliner!), the Tombow dual brush pen, a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen, a Tombow Fudenosuke, a pencil, a Ecoline brush pen, and a Baoke brush pen (in S23). If you want a more detailed pen post, let me know!
And lastly, the main add ends I love to use in my bullet journal: Washi tape and stickers. I find these add some very fun colors, patterns and textures, and you can use whatever suits your fancy! I also like to incorporate kraft paper, patterned paper, magazine clippings, etc. But, these two categories are my main used(:
Maisy wishes you all farewell and Happy New Year! ❤
I hope you all enjoyed this post, and maybe you were able to pick up a tip or two. I hope you are all doing well, have a lovely day! And, please be sure to leave me any post suggestions below, I’d love to hear what you would be interested to see.(:
Do you do any of these things in your bullet journal? What is your favorite color group? Do you like sweet or salty better?
Boy. It’s been awhile since I’ve done a letter/pen pal post.
Today’s The Day!™
Yes.
It’s true, that was a trademark.
Just kidding.
Maybe.
Well, recently, when making envelope art, I’ll stick with the same styles per group of letters. Some group may be flowers, some just lettering. Some highlighted. It just depends. I really love making a whole stack of letters that look similar.
Starting Simple.
I’ve found a go-to when it comes to designing envelopes, for me, is just a simple script. It’s so pretty and old-fashioned and simple. And, it doesn’t take that long. I enjoy doing this in large scale and small, like this one below.
I also love highlighting or outlining the same script. It adds a little pop of “something”, ya know?
Abstracts.
Abstract shapes and colors are a great way to add some points of interest in your envelope art. I love throwing circles ore triangles or rectangles ore wonky shapes on envelopes. It’s not hard, and it always looks cool!
Watercolors and Florals.
If you’ve been around here awhile, seen a few of my letter art posts, you’ll know my habits. I always do some sort of florals or watercolor on my envelopes. It doesn’t have to be fancy, little daisies are always cute!
I’ve been painting flowers in vases a lot. So I put one on an envelope, too. XD It’s simple but very pretty. Pairing this with bold or fancy lettering is always fun, too.
This one is similar, except there’s an arm. I have no idea why I drew that. XD
What an abnormally large flower.
Colored envelopes are another way to bring a fun somethin’ into your envelope art.
I went ham with the flowers. Oh dearie me.
I love doing big and bold art with tiny, simple lettering. It’s such a fun envelope to do. Doing something that is simple but maximalist is so fun.
I hope y’all enjoyed a few recent envelopes! Do you like these kinds of posts? Let me know!
Which envelope was your favorite? Do you pen pal? What is your favorite color? What is your favorite thing about 2020 so far?
Well, I believe that’s enough of my southern accent for one post. XD
Hello! I hope you’re all doing well!
Recently my camera has been in full use, almost daily. The weather has provided some lovely shots, from rain, to snow, to heat, to MORE rain, to more heat, and things finally starting to bloom, it’s been fun to experiment!
I’ve enjoyed using Canva to edit and adjust my photos, it’s such a great site!
One thing I’ve been wanting to really work on this year is nighttime photography. I understand my settings, but for some reason night photos were always reeeeaaally dark. I’ve just started to figure it out, so here are some shots from that!
You can juuuussstt make out Orion’s belt there. Don’t you love stars?
Haha, I sneezed while I was taking a picture of this star. XD
With so much rain, the birds have enjoyed getting out and eating. They, for some reason, love to sit on my window.
It looks as if he’s falling! I love watching the birds outside.
The animals, especially during the snow we got a week or two ago, really enjoyed being out.
The evening sky was especially majestic one night. Ah, those colors! True art.
Hehe, these are some strange violin-playing pictures for ya.😂
I bet we’ve had over two feet of rain this year. It’s been crazy!
Heh, we weren’t supposed to have pond here.
aannnddd… then there’s me. 😆 My good friend Savannah took some pictures of me when I went to her house one day.
This was me back in June when I still had bangs. XD I just found this.
I have been painting and drawing deer a lot lately, so I decided to put a little fawn on a letter. I really like how this one turned out. Have y’all ever seen baby deer? In the Spring/Summer they cross through the field next to us a lot. They’re so cute!
I hope you enjoyed a few recent photos I’ve been taking! Let me know, which was your favorite?
I hope you’re all doing wonderfully!
What’s your weather like? Do you have snow? Do you like sunsets? How about fawns? What’s your favorite season? What are your thoughts on Mac ‘n cheese; the real deal, or from a box?
If you would like to try Canva, here is my link for joining. When you do, you’ll receive a free premium image, illustration, or art! Go check it out!
It’s proven in the sky. Well, um, the heat. It is rather hot. (:
Well, today is a day for art and things related! I have collected a few photos of letter art and some watercolorings and such. Let’s go, shall we?
I’ve been doing a lot of floral lately around the address and such.
I have a few questions about my one little yellow rose in the corner… XD
I have been making a few envelopes lately and it’s fun to use different scrapbook paper. I had this little “counting my blessings” sticker and I thought that would be a fun address sticker. (I’ve found it’s a tidbit difficult to write on this particular paper(: )
A little collection of a letter. I like sticking with a color theme for letters. I always like collecting little things like bookmarks, cute notecards, stickers, quotes, paintings, it’s fun to fill a letter with doo-da’s(:
Yellow has been a cheery color to me lately and I’ve been using it a lot. I like sunflowers a lot, so yellow + sunflowers, hmm? hmm? (:
A friend of mine had a birthday, so I made her a card. I stuck pretty simple for this one, but I enjoyed how it came out. Do you watercolor?
My friend Laura wondered if I would like to write three letters to some elderly people in an assisted living home, so I said yes! (: I made three different letters. Thanks, Laura! ‘Twas fun(:
I’ve been cutting pages of multi-media paper in half and doing watercolor borders. It adds a little somthin’ somthin’ (:
Sorry about the strange lighting. O.o
You know something that’s a little (fun, but) difficult? Teeth and watercolor. It’s a little tricky to make it look like teeth! Over all, I like how she turned out.
A tree.
A watercolor tree. (:
Trees are tricky! (alliteration)
Quotes/verses on ATC’s are a fun thing to add in a letter. (Also fun to make!)
This is one of my favorite verses, and I thought I’d try a large-scale painting.
Someone asked me for a painting of a cake, so I made one(: Mm… now I want cake!
We also went to a Atlanta Braves game, to which my camera was present. We had the next row down from the highest seats. O.o My stomach got a little knotted up, ’twas quite high(:
I hope you’ve enjoyed this art post, and I hope you’re having a great day!
Do you watercolor? What’s your most used art supply? Do you write letters (contact(: )? Do you like chocolate? What’s your favorite baseball team?
How, though! How can it be! THE SEVENTH MONTH!! I just simply can’t believe it. I knoit’s different for everyone, but is this year just flying out the window and gone?
Anyway, it cannot be changed, so I shall enjoy it. What about you?
June was a action-packed (action isn’t quite the word–crazily busy, p’raps?) month, so I didn’t have that much time for posts. The first one I did this month was:
I’ve been wanting to start posting my devotions, so I thought that there is no time like the present! What did y’all think? Should I do more?
I have gotten a lot of photography in over the past few days. Lots of sunsets and flowers and scenery.
There was also a TON of time to do some art (sarcasm).
I’m excited for July! (Even though it shouldn’t be here yet😒)Does anyone have any big plans? Anything fun? We don’t have much, but I’m hoping for many posts! Is there anything you’d like to see?
I have written lots of letters lately, and I love doing art on the cards and envelopes, and I thought y’all might like to take a peek!
I do lots of different styles, but they all mainly include brush lettering and/or watercolor.
Bible verses are some of my favorite things to put on cards. They’re fun to look up, fun to write, and they look nice on cards(:
I really like to use watercolor and quotes in the making of my cards. I have a section in my bullet journal where I stash my favorite quotes and I have another journal that I write down my favorite verses in. It helps to write these things down so you don’t have to go ‘a searchin’😁
I really like drawing scenes in colored pencil as well. (Sorry, this one isn’t my greatest😆)
Themed cards and envelopes are really fun to do.
Doing a outline around the addresses and stamp with a theme (ex. leaves or black lines like in picture 3) can add a little sumpin’ sumpin’ to your envelopes.
ATC’s! My favorite(:
Well, that wraps it up for this (shorter) post. I hope you enjoyed reading this! Let me know which envelope/other was your favorite, I’d love to know!
I hope you all have a wonderful day!
What was your favorite? What’s the longest letter you’ve ever written (mine was ten pages–yesterday!)? Do you have a pen-pal?
